Santa Barbara is the capital of the province and the municipality of Samana is located in the Southern coast of the peninsula, in the Samana Bay. Santa Barbara is one of the most important provinces among all touristic destinations in the Dominican Republic. People often refer to simply, Samana. El Limón presents a tropical climate that maintains a very pleasant temperature throughout the year within the protected area Scientific Reservation Marine Mammal Sanctuary Bancos de La Plata y Navidad. Las Terrenas is the main tourist center of Samana, it has a cosmopolitan cultural vibe, but still remains an easygoing beach town feel, because of its friendly people and the numerous beaches that expands near three kilometers along the sandy coastline.
